Introduction

Distance learning refers to situations where the learner and the educator are separated by time and/or distance.  In distance learning, telecommunications or electronic devices are used for "interactivel" communication between the teacher and students.  Communication technologies used in distance learning create classrooms without walls and enable teachers to reach students without regard to geographical location. Some of the technologies include satellite, cable TV, fiber optics, microwave, broadcast video, videoconferencing, and computers.
